Advice On Writing Letter Interest For A Job
A letter of interest (also called an inquiry letter or a prospecting letter) is usually sent to prospective employers who haven’t listed any application for a specific job and that could be hired.
Include A Short Intro
The first thing you will want to do is to include a short intro that gets straight to the point. In other words, your intro should include who you are (your name) and that you are writing a letter of interest in a job. Make sure you let the reader know what job you are interested in, as you want to be specific because if you are not, then your letter may not even get read. The person who reads the intro will likely want to know what your name is and the job you’re interested in.
Start With A Professional Greeting
After you have wrote the intro, you will want to start the letter off with a professional greeting. If you know who you are writing to, such as a specific hiring manager or owner of the business, then you should address the person in a personal way. Start off by writing ‘dear’ followed by the person’s name. If you do not know who the hiring manager is, then you can start it off by writing ‘to whom it may concern’ or something among those lines. A professional greeting is important because if you don’t include one, than a hiring manager may not even look at the rest of your letter.
Start The First Paragraph With A Thesis Statement
Provide Examples Of The Strengths Previously Mentioned
After you have mentioned your strengths in the first paragraph, the next few paragraphs should give solid examples of each of your strength. These next few paragraphs is when you can really capture the company’s interest, so make sure you elaborate on each strength. The strengths that you choose to discuss should relate to the position you are interested in. A hiring manager wants to hire someone who has strengths and assets that will contribute to the company’s success, so do not include irrelevant information in these paragraphs.
Ask For An Interview
The last thing you will want to do is to ask for an interview. At the end of your letter, you will want to express interest in meeting with a hiring manager face-to-face, and if the hiring manager is impressed with your letter, then there is a good chance they will want to meet you.
This kind of letter should contain information why your experience and skills could be an asset for that company and why the company interests you. A letter of interest should also provide information on where you can be reached and how you will follow-up.
